BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — We’re just hours away from Small Business Saturday. It’s like Black Friday — but for local stores. It’s dedicated to shopping local and to give business to the families behind the small stores.
Celeste Giallanza, a Head over Heels employee, said, “Small businesses are great because when you spend your money here it stays here and it helps our community and helps our growing community thrive, rather than corporations, it’s just a different feeling.”
With the smaller setting, comes more attention. More attention to the customer and for the people that work for the business itself. Basically everything that a big box store can’t normally offer.
Giallanza said, “Working in small business is fun because we get to know our coworkers and our boss more personally and it makes working that much more enjoyable.”
With happy employees, should come happy customers. On Small Business Saturday, many small businesses might offer deals similar to their big box
equivalent, Black Friday, but without all of the craziness that comes with Black Friday.
Susan Morreale, the owner of Her Story Boutique said, “Well what I really love about Small Business Saturday is, it’s a chance for the community to come out and and shop local — I always call it mindful shopping because it is such a day of peace and calm, peace and calm shopping because people are very mindful about what they’re buying and and specialty gift giving is really important.”
