ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — James Hicks Jr. is a member of the Jamestown high school football team. He is the Red Raiders biggest fan.
“He always on the sidelines supporting us,” said Andrew Pumford. Hicks hangs out on the sideline at every Jamestown game cheering on his friends, his teammates. He loves football but can’t play sports with physical contact.
He was hit by a car when he was 9; suffering numerous injuries including two concussions and leaving him with lifelong mental and physical disabilities.
The teen hasn’t let that sideline him forever though. He got involved with the Red Raiders football squad quickly becoming their number one supporter.
Hick Jr. is an even bigger Bills fan. His friends say he bleeds blue, red and white. So his teammates wanted to help him get to New Era Field to say thanks for his support.
And it all started with a letter to the Bills and an email to News 4. The Bills received the note and today Hicks Jr. and three of his friends from the football team spent the day on the sidelines at New Era field.
“It’s awesome for him because he loves the Bills so much,” said Andrew Pumford, a Red Raiders player. “Being able to see it in person means a lot to him.”
“They care about me and I care about them,” said James Hicks Jr. “I have good friends in Buffalo.”
