TUCKER, GA (WIVB)- Buffalo native Jameca Price was found dead in her estranged husband’s Georgia condo on Thanksgiving.
According to Price’s family, she was reported missing Wednesday from Roswell, Ga., where she had been living.
Police officials in DeKalb County, Ga. are searching for the estranged husband, 39-year-old Orlando Price, whom they believe killed her.
Price attended Buffalo Public School #80, Highgate Heights Elementary and was a graduate of Buffalo Performing Arts High School. She was also a graduate of John Marshall’s Law School. Her family tells News 4 she was awaiting her bar results.
Jameca and Orlando had been married for 16 years. According to Price’s sister, Jameca had recently filed for divorce.
“It’s been years and years of abuse. But it wasn’t up until July of this year where it was exposed to the family how bad it was,” said Janese Gates-McDaniels.
In July, Gates-McDaniels said her sister finally left and took her two daughters with her, who are 12 and 13.
Gates-McDaniels describes her older sister as a go-getter who could always make her smile.
Price was working as a real estate agent in Georgia, and also ran a tax business.
“She worked, she was a full time mom, and had all these businesses and won. So she was a hard worker. She never stopped. She always working and doing this for herself and her kids,” Gates-McDaniels told us.
She wants to get her sister’s story out there not only to solve this case, but to remind people that domestic violence can lead to tragedy.
Police records show officers had responded to a domestic situation between Orlando and Jameca in the past.
The family has set up a Go Fund Me page to cover funeral expense.
Anyone with information on Orlando Price’s whereabouts should call DeKalb County Police at 404-286-7911.
