OC Lynn says Watkins still has a broken bone in his foot

Watkins was limited in practice on Thursday.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Despite returning to practice on Thursday after leaving early on Wednesday, Sammy Watkins is still battling his foot injury.

Following practice Bills offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn was asked about having Watkins back and his impact on the team.

“The guy has a broken bone in his foot,” Lynn said. “I don’t know if he is going to play one play or 20 plays. The guy has a broken bone in his foot. I would like to have him out there the whole time but I can’t say. He is tough and determined to stay on the field and help us win games but, he has a broken bone in his foot at the end of the day.”

This was a surprising statement after an earlier press conference with head coach Rex Ryan who said Watkins looked great at practice, and took a majority of snaps.

Watkins returned to the Bills last Sunday after spending time on injured reserve. He had three catches for 80 yards against the Jaguars.
