WARSAW, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Perry woman who admitted to murdering a former friend who was dating her ex-boyfriend was sentenced in court Thursday.
Kira Kastenhuber, 38, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in October.
While inside the Perry home of Desirae Withey, 33, this past February, Kastenhuber strangled, beat and stabbed the woman. Withey’s body was found by one of her children, who then told a neighbor what they saw.
The friendship between Withey and Kastenhuber, who were also co-workers, was over when the relationship between Withey and Kastenhuber’s ex-boyfriend began.
Before Kastenhuber was arrested at her mother’s Rochester home, police say she overdosed and left a suicide note that said she killed Withey.
Kastenhuber was sentenced to 15 years-to-life in prison.
