BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — “Our customers look forward to it every year, it’s our best event it’s so much fun the energy on Hertel is amazing,” said Stacey Moscato, Peek-A-Boo Baby Boutique owner.
Stacey Moscato says a lot of locally made retail items will be on display for Hertel’s ‘Holidays Shop and Dine Event.’
“We have bow ties for babies, we have hats, diaper covers, lace rompers, we have our Buffalo onesies which are our number one seller,” said Moscato.
Like Peek-A-Boo Baby Boutique, P.S. Accessories also has specialty Buffalo items.
“We started selling a lot of Buffalo jewelry, locally made items,” said Patty Santoro, P.S. Accessories owner.
“We offer discounts and a lot of places offer light refreshments, drinks, some stores have DJs and it’s just a way for us to stay open late for people to see what Hertel has all the stores and restaurants that have opened up recently,” said Moscato.
The annual Holiday Shop and Dine on Hertel brings out a lot of regular customers, and some new faces.
“I do think the shopping scene has come a long way on Hertel, and it’s very relaxing to walk along and buy things in the local stores,” said Margaret Spadinger of Buffalo.
Shoppers and business owners say event shows the popular street is far different today than it was less than 10 years ago.
“We opened in I believe it was ’07, and nothing was on Hertel. Over the years my gosh it’s so different so many things have popped up,” said Santoro.
“I think it’s real important to support the local businesses because then we’re supporting Buffalo and people who live here,” said Spadinger.
The Holiday Shop and Dine event runs from 5 pm to 9 pm Friday. It will also take place again Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm.
