GASPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Niagara County father is accused of killing his baby boy. Twenty five year old Dillon Hossbach of Gasport faced arraignment today.
He has been indicted on murder and manslaughter charges. Hossbach pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Investigators believe he killed his six-month old son William Hossbach, who the family called “Liam.”
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office says the child died at his home in Gasport back in February. An investigator says Dillon Hossbach called 911 just after 11 that morning and said that the baby was ill, but an autopsy determined otherwise.
Now nearly 10 months later Hossbach is accused of killing his 6-month-old son.
An autopsy by the Monroe County Medical Examiners office found that the baby did not die from natural causes. The Niagara County Sheriff’s office confirms the baby’s death was trauma induced, but would not confirm if it was a beating. News 4 also learned the injury occurred to baby ‘Liam’ while Hossbach was alone with the child.
Hossbach is behind bars tonight in Niagara County Jail. He’s being held on $40,000 bail.
