BURT, N.Y. (WIVB) — The holidays are supposed to be a joyous time, but for some people the holidays aren’t easy. Many families in rural parts of Western New York struggle to make it pay check to pay check.
Denise Noble of Nurt has been running the ‘Pay it Forward Charitable Organization of WNY’ for the past 30 years. She collects toys, winter clothing, bedding, Christmas trees, and several other items for families in need.
Noble says she gets phone calls from families all over Niagara County, like Wilson, Barker, Hartland, Gasport and Newfane. She says rural communities are often neglected and do not receive as many donations as cities like Buffalo and Niagara Falls.
Noble is facing difficulties with her fibromyalgia disease and says she could use all the help she could get to make Christmas special for less fortunate kids.
“The country folks, the rural community kids, they’re forgotten about. At the present time I have 59 children on the list. I have very few donations that have come in to fill the need. We’re asking for gift cards to Walmart,Toys R Us, monetary donations, we collect gently used toys,” said Denise Noble, Pay it Forward Charitable Organization of WNY Founder.
