UB Police identify suspect in burglary

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — University at Buffalo police have identified a suspect in the case of a burglary in an administrative building.

An arrest has not yet been made, but the suspect’s name was released — Daniel Soares. News 4 first reported on the burglary earlier this month.

Soares, a student from Suffolk County, has been charged with burglary, attempted burglary and possession of burglar’s tools.

Police say he has fled the area.

UB’s police chief, Gerald W. Schoenle Jr., said “UPD is working with our law enforcement partners to take him into custody.”
