Sheriff: Man with stun gun arrested in Rath building

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Erie County Sheriff’s deputies arrested someone they say had a stun gun in the Rath Building.

Officials said Tuesday afternoon that no one at the Franklin St. structure was in danger.

Buffalo resident Joshua Strauss, 24, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon after a stun gun was allegedly found hidden in personal items. Deputies say he tried to carry the weapon into DMV offices.

When deputies tried to place Strauss into custody, they say he became disorderly. He was then additionally charged with disorderly conduct.

No one was injured during the arrest. Strauss was taken to the Erie County Holding Center. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
