McKinley High School student arrested after falsely reporting two armed people in school

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — McKinley High School has been declared safe after somebody called the school Friday afternoon claiming that people had guns.

Police conducted a full search of the area and found nothing unusual, a Buffalo School District spokesperson said Friday.

Buffalo Police have arrested a 17-year-old male student with falsely reporting an incident in relation to the call.

Buffalo police responded to the high school on after 1 p.m. Friday after the caller said two armed people were in the school.

A lockdown procedure was implemented by the school and police searched lockers.

“For the most part, students and staff are to be commended for following District procedures in an orderly and efficient manner, assuring their safety at all times,” a statement from the school district said. “As always, school administrators and law enforcement worked together to maintain our priority of student safety. ” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
