Buffalo man sentenced to 78 months on heroin charges

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo man will face more than six years in jail on heroin charges.

Jeffrey Coleman, 47, was sentenced to 78 months in prison after being convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin.

According to the assistant U.S. Attorney who handled the case, Coleman was a courier for a heroin distribution conspiracy, which brought heroin from New York City to Buffalo.

Coleman was stopped on Feb. 26, 2014, carrying more than $65,000 in cash, which was payment for the delivery of heroin.

Also in Feb. 2014, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at a residence on West Delavan Avenue in Buffalo, in which officers recovered more than 100 grams of heroin, drug packaging paraphernalia, and $4,000 in cash.

Coleman was arrested along with four other defendants. All five defendants have been convicted and sentenced.
