Citizen attempts to stop theft of tools from Home Depot in Batavia

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A citizen attempted to stop a larceny from the Home Depot at Veterans Memorial Drive Wednesday morning.

Genesee County Sheriff’s deputies reported to the store around 9:52 a.m. Wednesday and discovered that an individual has pushed a cart full of tools past all points of sale and tried to load them into his vehicle.

A citizen attempted to intervene and the suspect vehicle and suspects left the parking lot, striking two other vehicles.

The suspect vehicle was located later on the Thruway in the Town of Henrietta by New York State Police.

Several items were recovered and the investigation is continuing.

Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies also assisted in the case.
