Select libraries offering free solar eclipse glasses

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Planning on watching the solar eclipse safely on Aug. 21?

You’ll need special solar eclipse glasses to protect your eyes as the once-in-a-lifetime event spans the country this summer.

The glasses have solar filters specifically designed for looking at the sun. Regular sunglasses won’t work, and looking at the sun without the protective glasses can cause sun and permanent eye damage.

The Richmond Memorial Library in Batavia will provide glasses to those participating in their solar eclipse viewing program at 2:30 p.m. that day.
