Man rescued from water in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A fisherman and the U.S. Coast Guard rescued a man from the Niagara River early Monday morning.

The fisherman heard a man calling for help near Unity Island around midnight. He threw the man a net to help keep him afloat and called 911.

The Coast Guard responded to the call and brought the man onto their boat. The man, who was described as being “highly intoxicated”, was brought to the Erie Basin Marina where he was checked out by an ambulance crew.

Buffalo Police say it’s not known why the man was in the water.
