Funeral arrangements announced for NYSP trooper who was fatally shot

FORT DRUM, N.Y. (WIVB) — Funeral arrangements for the New York State Trooper who was fatally shot have been announced.

Trooper Joel Davis, 36, was killed in the Town of Theresa on Sunday night. The man suspected of shooting him is 32-year-old Army Staff Sgt. Justin Walters.

Walters’ wife was also fatally shot.

Calling hours for Davis will take place at the Magrath Sports Complex at 10050 Tigris River Valley Rd. in Fort Drum on Friday. Law enforcement officers will be allowed in starting at 3 p.m., and the public may enter at 4 p.m. Calling hours will last until 8 p.m.

The funeral will also be at Magrath Sports Complex the following Saturday at 1 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
