Man charged with driving ATV while drunk after previous DWI

FRIENDSHIP, N.Y. (WIVB) — An Allegany County man was charged with driving an ATV while drunk in the Town of Friendship.

On Tuesday afternoon, Belmont resident Steven Warner, 44, was driving the vehicle down County Road 31 without a helmet, New York State Police say.

When Troopers stopped him, they say they could smell alcohol. After refusing sobriety tests, Warner was arrested and taken into custody.

After arriving at the State Police barracks, Troopers say Warner refused a chemical test.

He was charged with felony DWI since he had been previously convicted in the last 10 years. In addition to that, Warner was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Unregistered ATV and not wearing a helmet.

Following arraignment, Warner was remanded to the Allegany County Jail on $1,500 bail. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
