BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Buffalo Bills have traded quarterback Cardale Jones to the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for a conditional draft pick.
Wednesday’s trade comes on the eve of the Bills’ training camp.
“Heading to training camp with four quarterbacks was understandably not seen as a viable option for the Bills,” the team’s website reads.
Jones, a former fourth-round pick of the Bills in 2016, had been in a difficult spot on the Bills’ QB depth chart after the team signed veteran backup T.J. Yates in free agency and took QB Nathan Peterman in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL draft, the site added.
Jones tweeted his gratitude to the Bills Organization and fans for their support during his time with the team.
