News4 at the Fair: Remembering a Call 4 Action icon

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – WIVB/WNLO designated Wednesday “Call 4 Action Day” at the Erie County Fair, and a special tribute was paid to former Call 4 Action City Director Jean Flowers, who passed away July 21.

Flowers volunteered tirelessly for the consumer advocacy group for 31 years until she retired in 2013, but City Director Maria Visco said Flowers continued to support Call 4 Action’s efforts.

“Still was part of Call 4 Action, and after she retired from Call 4 Action, came to the fair with us when we had “Call 4 Action Day”.

Visco compiles Call 4 Action’s accomplishments, and although there are no hard statistics for individual cases, she believes Jean Flowers assisted thousands of Western New York consumers during her tenure with Call 4 Action. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
